Lace up your sneakers! The first annual GERD Walk 2021 will take place on GERD Awareness Week 2021: November 21-November 27, 2021.
Research shows that taking a walk immediately after eating a meal can aid in the digestion process.* Chronic heartburn, among other factors, can increase the risk of esophageal cancer.
There is no cost to participate in the GERD Walk and registration is not required. However, donations to support esophageal cancer awareness and research efforts are greatly appreciated. The goal of the GERD Walk is to encourage people to become more active and take charge of their digestive health and to raise awareness of esophageal cancer.
Please consult with your doctor before participating. While walking is safe and healthy for most, some may have adverse reactions if they walk immediately after a meal, especially a large meal.
Walk at your own pace, for your own desired length of time and/or distance. Invite your neighbors, leash up your dog or walk solo.
While GERD Week is November 21-November 27, 2021, you can take your GERD Walk before or after GERD Week and as many times as you’d like!
